Some visitors have noted occasional lapses in staff behavior, such as front-of-house staff being seen engaging in activities that may detract from the professionalism expected in a pub setting. Although the food typically garners glowing reviews, a few dishes may occasionally miss the mark in flavor or presentation. Limited parking can sometimes be challenging during peak hours, especially on busy weekends. Additionally, the outdoor seating could be better equipped for inclement weather. While the live music adds energy, it might become too loud for those hoping for a quieter meal experience at times.
Went today for the Sunday Roast. Was absolutely AMAZING. We had a starter and a main. My mum had the prawn cocktail and beef roast. Both of which she said were fantastic. I had the soup of the day and the pork porchetta. Everything was just full of flavour and the portion sizes, were huge. My son had the kids tomato pasta and chocolate brownie and ice cream. He loved it. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Checked on us a couple of times, to make sure everything was OK, which we appreciated. Recommended this place now to numerous people. Will definitely be coming back. Well done and thank you to you all 😊
Dropped in to see how the new owners had changed the place. What an amazing surprise. Wonderful atmosphere and friendly chatty staff. Food was wonderful and well priced. Great local pub doing fabulous food. Well worth a visit.
Great food, surprisingly really good! And the staff are so so friendly! 5* from us ✨
Not a local and was on a solo trip staying in the area. I popped in here on opening night for a few drinks and to listen to the live music they had on for the evening. The music was great, the drinks were reasonable priced. The staff are lovely and friendly. The locals were up dancing to the music which was a good vibe. The locals were friendly and chatty, giving recommendations of places to walk etc. The pub has a lovely seating area out the front and also the back. Shame there was rain to not be able to fully enjoy it. The pub was serving a taster menu as it was opening night. I unfortunately didn’t try any as popped for a Chinese before hand but the food I saw on other peoples places looked lovely. Would defo pop back in here if I was ever staying in the area again.
We went last night and had 2 steak and ale pies and I must say they were absolutely delicious, the Pastry was cooked to perfection and the steak was perfect, we will definitely be returning without a doubt. Well done chef you have gained customers for life. Just one problem I encountered was front of house staff sat at the bar vaping which doesn’t look good. Apart from that it was brilliant
Had another amazing meal down at The Lock & Quay a few days ago , it really is worth popping down and trying it out down there . Hopefully this place will just keep going from strength to strength and building on the great start it’s had in the last few weeks !
First time at the Lock and Quay but we loved it. Lovely staff and reasonably priced drinks. Sat in beer garden at the back of the pub. Very spacious and staff can't do enough for you. We were camping near by and will definitely be returning so we'll also be returning to The Lock and Quay!
